Welcome to Great Lakes Protocol and Provings
In order to meet the demands of homeopathic treatment in the 21st century it is essential to develop and prove as many homeopathic remedies as possible. As homeopaths, we have conducted both full Hahnemannian and trituration provings. In August of 2009 under the guidance of Louis Klein, we debated with a group of long standing colleagues about the value of trituration provings. The group agreed that the trituration process is a possible method to meet the pressing need for more homeopathic remedies.
Triturations provide an immediate, intense, and complete picture of the remedy, yet exposing people to crude substances can be problematic. Typically, people do not employ safety measures to protect the provers from long-term effects of the proving.
Yet, the trituration process is extremely valuble. The cultural context and archetype of the substance becomes profoundly evident due to the group dynamis and appear quite immediately in the process. We learned that the immediate results of triturations accelerate the Hahnemannian proving process. To provide safety, however, the trituration needs supervision.
Hahnemannian provings are beneficial because they are structured, controlled, supervised, and the provers are screened prior to participation. In our experience they are cumbersome, lengthy and laborious for both the provers and organizers. Therefore, we created a hybrid in order to capture the best of both methods, and developed the Great Lakes Proving Protocol. In our experience these provings are as powerful as trituration provings and as comprehensive as full Hahnemannian provings.
We hope that you will use this protocol; it employs guidlines, standards and an accessible methodology to help fulfill the goal of completing as many provings as possible. We have used it repeatedly and as a result have successful cases to prove its efficacy. We will continue to post our provings and cases and invite you to use this protocol.
